Don't let your skin suffer in winter, follow our top 10
skin saving tips for glowing, healthy skin:
1
Start the day with an invigorating shower to jump-start your circulation. We recommend a mood enhancing, stimulating shower gel such as Korres - Basil Lemon to lift your spirits. If you're really brave, before you get out switch to cold water for about fifteen seconds. It's not pleasant but it's great for reviving a sluggish circulation.
Don't forget adequate sun protection for exposed skin. If you’re out on the slopes, remember that snow reflects the sunlight, doubling the damaging effect of the sun’s rays. For a post ski treat, try Korres Wild Mango Butter - this botanical butter repairs dry skin and lips exposed to climatic stress like extreme cold or heat and is great as a facial aftersun if you're looking a little more rosy than you should!
4
Drink lots of water (at least 8 glasses a day). Internal hydration keeps skin cells plump and healthy. Water also helps transport nutrients to skin cells, keeping them nourished. If you find water far from inspiring, why not try a herbal tea?
5
When cleansing, try to use a creamy product such as Living Nature's Vitalising Creamy Cleaner with manuka honey which gently lifts impurities with stripping your skin's natural oils. Use an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells but no more than once a week.
6
Unless your skin is quite oily you should avoid toner altogether in the wintertime. If you do have oily skin that stays oily through the winter, and you want to keep using toner, be sure your toner does not contain alcohol. We recommend the light and soothing Proto-col Coral and Collagen toner with guava and kiwi
Try to avoid taking long, hot showers or baths this winter. We all know how appealing they sound but try to resist the urge as over-exposure to hot water can dry skin out even more. To help seal in moisture use a bath oil such as the divine smelling Pharmacopia - Citrus Oil with tangerine and grapefruit. Not only will this help seal in the moisture but it aids in detoxification too!
Your skin puts up with a lot in the winter months, so before going to bed treat it to some nourishment with Karin Herzog's - Facial Oil. This will deliver a double-whammy of essential vitamins to feed the skin all night long.
